Sophie, this artwork from 3rd grade just showed up. It looks like chalk or crayon. It’s hard to tell on the screen I’m using. It looks fun. The shapes give me plenty of ideas. I like the way the teal is mostly around the blocks of what seems like a light purple. Love, Granna

Wow, Sophie, this looks like a spaceship! It is from Grade 2! I just now saw it for the first time! I think I see a magnifying glass that shows the “door” and has a shiny surface not present in the rest of the painting. How fun! Love, Granna

Sophie, Your observations about “the pop drips” are really interesting. While I’m not sure which was done first—the drips or the squares—, I’m interested by the way you squeezed in that tiny bit of pink behind the furthest right drip; very TRUE. I do like the contrast of the pink and the green with the white spaces for resting the eye and making the checkerboard at the same time. I do love the way you gave the drips their 3-dimensional quality with the darkness on the left and the lightness on the right. Very effectively executed! Love, Granna

Sophie, Your barn is beautiful. I love what you said about it, especially the part about the sky and how you usually don't color the sky but this time you did and it's a little messy. Sometimes the sky IS messy. If you did it again, it would be in pastel oil, and that would be nice, too. I also like the outlines of the clouds. Love, Granna

Sophie, I really like the colors in this work of art. I love the way the darkest green is in the middle and the lighter green seems to fan out from it except where there is the coral red color on the top. I love the way the lines of the rectangles interact with the lines of the circles, cutting the shapes in half and marking where the color changes occur. I love that it is called "rainbow dots." Sophie, this is a very fun design. I love the purple and turquoise background colors and texture. The center design has different texture and colors and it repeats the idea of circles. How fun! It almost looks like a face!

I like this artwork because of the way colors and letters are shaped. The different colored letters are shaded deeply and the background has lighter shading and texture.

Hi, Sophie. This artwork tells me a story. I see two girls flying a kite on a windy day in a place where there is a park bench and flowers and what I think is a nice straight sidewalk.
