Meredith- This little guy has been sitting on my kitchen counter for the past week, and every time I walk by him, I think of you. I like the details on his face. Mom

Smalls - I love this piece of art and the things you chose to focus on more and less of. It's a good exercise and I am going to do it myself! Although I probably won't draw out the pictures. I thought "stealing sister's clothes" was the funniest. Hehehe :-) Miss you.

Meredith, I love this project. It is good for all of us to do some self-examination and decide what we need to work on in our lives. Great Job!!

Meredith-I like seeing how you see yourself. Working with oil pastels can be difficult. I look at each of these squares and know what each one means to you...except the nose. You will have to tell me about that at home. Love, Mom

Awesome self-portrait Smalls! I forget how good of an artist you are sometimes. This really looks like you. And I am still glad we share a name!

Meredith-I, I love that you already have artwork, and it's the second week of school. I could tell right away when I opened my email that this was a self-portrait. I can't wait to see what you create next! Love, Mom

I like this landscape piece, Meredith. I can see all the pieces that Ms. Jacobsen talked about in your unit. It reminds me of how beautiful sunsets can be, especially in the mountains. Love you! Mom

Meredith-the name of your creation gave me a laugh. I like how you and your friends came up with a theme for your art class creation. I would think that forming clay with such tiny details was tricky. Love, Mom

Meredith, this is a cool piece. The dark to light really makes it look 3-D. It also reminds me of a piece of Christmas candy. I love you!

Meredith-these are my colors! I like how you added the little pumpkins to the background. This entire piece makes me want to grab a pumpkin spice latte. Keep up the creative work! Love, Mom

Meredith-I really like the contrast of the blue and pink. It makes your name pop. I see a can of Bubbly, which I know you like. I wonder what else is in the pattern that I didn't quite see. Love, Mom

Meredith, this is surely a collage filled with all sorts of things you like right now. The golden retriever you added really looks like Howard. :)

Meredith, this is really cool and fits you well since you are a swimmer. Is this something you get to bring home? I would love to see it.

Smalls - this picture is SO good! You have become really good artist. I love the stripes and the eyes on this lady. Is it you/us?

Smalls! I love this cute, baby elephant but is he doing what I think he is doing??? That is v funny. I love the words that you associated with this picture too. They are all very positive and remind me of you.

Dear Tiny, This is an excellent self portrait! I think it looks just like you and I am glad you incorporated turtles and watermelon into the photo. Your green eyes look very cool too, as they do in real life. Miss you!

Tiny - Really cool picture. I especially like the black lines and how they create contrast between the colors. Your use of color is very powerful as well. To me this seems like a really beautiful sunset with the orange and red sky and the little sun peaking out from behind the hills. You have a creative brain!

Mer! This graffiti artwork is very cool. It looks like something I might see around Brooklyn! I'm not sure if you remember from being here, but graffiti is big in NYC. You did an excellent job with the colors and the texture on the letters. I also like how the letters are different sizes. I am looking forward to seeing more of your artwork this year.

Tiny! The email tells me this piece of art is called "overlapping snakes." I am very curious to hear how that assignment came to be! I'm pretty afraid of snakes BUT I really like how your snakes are not scary. In fact, they look pretty nice and they are colorful. I think my favorites are the two tiny snakes near the top of the page. I look forward to seeing more of your art work!

Mer! Cool bird pic. They are all super cute. I'm glad you are learning about mixing colors. Turns out, it's something you need to know for your WHOLE LIFE. I like the two purple birdies on the right hand side the best. Cute beakies. Miss you. -- Aunt Ellen
