A Year in Art
Hi, I’m Ms. Mundt and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year in art. Here are some things to know.  Students have direct art instruction for fifty minutes a week. There will be many projects experienced during the year. You can see the projects lesson plans on my website (www.smundtweebly.com)).
The Core Concepts and Skills
      Students will work with a variety of materials including markers, crayons, paint, clay and technology. Our curriculum includes the role of artist in society, recognizing art as a form of communication and expression, and identifying elements of art such as line, shape, color, texture and space. Art history instruction is also a component of curriculum. Throughout the elementary art experience, we are exploring different, age-appropriate methods of becoming artists.
     All projects help students to use their imagination. I believe in the power of integrating art lessons using the content area of core curriculum from the classroom. This is highly beneficial for those students who are visual-spatial and bodily-kinesthetic learners. It also allows students to bring knowledge they have learned into the art room to demonstrate understanding or solidify abstract concepts from the classroom into practical use.
Artsonia
Artsonia is a way that your student can keep a digital art portfolio. This is also a great communication tool for me to send newsletters and information about art shows. This also allows us to fundraise for supplies for the art room. Artsonia sells lots of fun supplies that can have your students art work on it, for example mugs, t-shirts, and lots more.

Just for Grade 4

4th Grade Dallas Museums of Art Field trip is back.
 We will be going on an Art field trip in October with 4th grade students if you want to come with us at the field trip as a volunteer with your student you will need to fill out the McKinney ISD volunteer form:

It takes two to process the form through administration.
 

Just for Grade 5

Art Club
5th Grade art club starts September 13, 2022. Art club is on Tuesday from 7:00-7:40. 5th grade students that want to join should show up between 6:50-7am on Tuesday. I will be at the front entrance of the school building. Will start at 7:05 in the morning in the art room. Art club will be creating art works for contest and Art night as well as fun activities.
