December 2017 News
from Ms. Norris
The art program at Big Walnut Elementary is a Choiced Based Art program foucused on the student as the artist.  During the first semester all classes have been focusing on behaving and thinking like an artist.

What do Artists do…….

Artists THINK about and PLAN what they will CREATE.
Artists USE THEIR TIME WELL and STICK TO IT even when they have a problem.
Artists ENGAGE with their art making.  They are focused with their body, minds and mouths.
Artists USE WHAT THEY KNOW and DISCOVER NEW THINGS
Artist are PROBLEM SOLVERS. They are able to come up with different ways to do things and choose what works.
Artists use CRAFTSMANSHIP when they use Consideration, Care and Neatness.
Artists REFINE their artwork when they go back and think about small changes they can make to improve their artwork.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with concerns or questions about your child’s art education. My hope is that your child will have the absolute best art class experience possible and gain new skills and confidence throughout the year.. If there’s anything specific I can do to help make this happen, please let me know.
