Expressions Charter Chat: August 2018
from Jenell Novello
The "earth" without "art" is just "eh."- Ned Roram

It's hard to believe we’ve been in school for 4 weeks already! Expressions students are well into the second project of their grade level unit and seem to have adapted from summer to the daily norms of Expressions! It feels GREAT to be creating with the kiddos again!

It was great to see many of you at Back to School Night!  If you weren’t able to attend, I have linked the 7th Grade BTS Presentation here and 8th Grade BTS Presentation here. I look forward to seeing you all again in November at the Day of the Dead Art Exhibit on November 8th- more det's to come later. :)

For parents who are interested in the grant work going on for my students, my most recent Donors Choose Project is linked here- please help spread the word!

Upcoming Reminders:

Thanks for all of your support!

Just for Grade 7

7th Grade students have just completed their first art challenge in the style of #Paperboyo. This challenge will lead into an intensive figure drawing project which will conclude the Anime unit.  We have been developing drawing skills since Day 1 and now students are ready to spread their drawing wings and fly!

Just for Grade 8

8th Grade is finishing up their Expressive Eye project. I am really impressed with how students are pushing themselves to master this intensive eye study! Our next project will be an optical illusion cube. From there, students will enter the Identity Ceiling tile Mural Design Contest! I am super excited what the students will create!
Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
