A pumpkin inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome....obviously. Bernini's influence on this work highlights the intersection between the Renaissance movement and what has been referred to as "the holiest of Christian churches." Hudson's interpretation not only honors the burial site of St. Peter, chief among Jesus' disciples, but also helps recognize the modern Catholic Church. This piece's insightful use of squares at the corners helps focus the gravitational center for the viewer, and the orbs on the lateral sides serve to inspire the observer to find the deeper meanings from the contrasting colors on the vertical plane. Also, I like the purple. -- Derek
