The decision to overlap the darker glaze from the interior below the rim on the exterior with the slightly lighter glaze helped the glaze layers commingle in a way that aesthetically emphasizes the thick rim of the vessel. The use of a crystalline glaze like Jade Pool created visual appeal and movement with the speckling and pooling effects of the glaze layers.
