Dryden Art Room News, April 11th
from Mrs. Tricia Fuglestad, Dryden's Art Teacher
Thank you for taking a few moments to see what's new in the art room!
We have some SUPER fun things to share:
Picture
  1. Blah Blah Oops! (the Dance) (See Lily, Kylie, and Rachel dance to our Blah Blah Oops Song) This was entered into the Nextvista.org Creative Flight contest. Wish them luck.
  2. Playing with the Inkpad app (explored a new app and drew a Dryden school logo (and more)
  3. Connect-a-Concept Learn how to play the new art game we tried in the art room.
  4. Audioboo-ing what we are Doing (We started experiementing with Audioboo. Now you can listen and see what your children are learning via tweets with Audioboo)
  5. Field Trip to the Art Institute of Chicago (view photos and listen to audioboos of students sharing their experience, observations, and ideas during our field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. If you missed our LIVE TWEETS you can search our archives here.
  6. Automate in the Art Room Students made silly people that turned into pop art pieces automatically on our mac. Take a look at the results here and learn more on my post.
  7. New Version of Doink Third grade will be using the new version of this iPad animation app to make a group Alien Invasion of the Art Room movie. We're so excited!
  8. Thank You Daily Herald The Daily Herald interviewed me for an article. I had a chance to share why I think art education is important for our students and how it has given me a chance at a second childhood. View the photos and a video too. Thanks to all those that left facebook comments! I feel so honored and supported:)
  9. The Internet was Created for Good  We entered an online student video contest about the Good Side of the Internet. 15 Dryden girls helped make this adorable 2 minute video. There will be two $10,000 winners from both the Individual and School categories. So far we are only competing against two other movies in the school category. Schools have until April 16th to enter so that may change. Until voting begins, please create a login and view, rate, and comment. When voting begins, you will use your login to vote. What a nice way to help us win resources without co$t. This prize money would create a one to one iPad ratio in the art room which would benefit all students.
  10. Donor's Choose Project: I did create a tax deductable Donor's Choose project asking for one iPad and stylus. If you can't donate, no problem. Perhaps you can help us win the Internet Contest (see #9) Clicks, comments, and votes are free!
  11. Environmental Art Day to Break a Guinness Book of World's Records (attempt). I am going to try to submitt artwork from my Wednesday classes to this attempt to break a world's record. They did environmental art sketches while I was on a field trip. View them here. The pieces will not be returned. They were all done on 81/2 x 11 paper, added to a binder, and will be shipped to the event in Chicago.
  12. Is Your Child in the HALL OF FAME on Artsonia? They need their three ribbons (5 pieces of art, 5 fan club members, 5 comments approved) to qualify to win a T-Shirt with their art of choice on it. The Raffle will be MAY 17th. Click here to check your student's account.
Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
