4th Grade Blind and Continuous Contour Line Drawings

4th grade students learned the 3 types of contour line drawing techniques: regular, continuous and blind contour. These drawing techniques help train the eye to intently look at objects and see the object for what it is, not what the mind thinks it is. These drawings were created by using both continuous and blind contour drawing techinques.  Although the results may look a little silly and abstract, students' eyes were sharply focused on looking at the Mona Lisa and Spongebob images and noticing every curve, line and detail of the images.  After the drawings were complete we used markers to add color and painted water over the marker to create a watercolor painting technique.
