Important Art Reminders and Updates
from Janine Campbell
Dear Parents and Students,

The following are important reminders and requests to help make this month amazing in the art room:

1. You've got mail!  Please check your child's school email account with them. I have sent them feedback on several assignments over the weekend. Many students are missing work or in need of correcting items they have turned in. I will be grading this on Monday, so this feedback is a way to help them make any needed corrections before the final grades are put in PowerSchool. If you have any questions, please email me and I will address any concerns.

2. Going to State! Congratulations to Tom Lake, Tommy Sadler, and Jazmine Hamm whose work was juried into the Michigan Art Education Association Region 9 Show! Their work will be on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum through March 1st and will then go onto the State competition in Lansing. There is a reception for the artists and their families at the GRAM on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. I am very proud of this accomplishment and cannot wait to see their work on display. Here are the winning pieces below:

3. Artsonia Artist Statement Winner! Congratulations to Sara Thompson, who is our first ever Artsonia Artist Statement Challenge winner. She will be recieving a notebook with an art piece from her portfolio on it as a result of participating in a competition I gave to students last weekend. Please make sure students get in the routine of checking their mail as many teachers will be using it to mail them updates and reminders about class - as well as fun challenges like this where they could win prizes!

4. Artsonia Comment Challenge! Take a moment and comment on the work of our students on our online gallery at www.artsonia.com/schools/byron1. Each student with comments on their work by the end of this week (next Saturday) will be put in a drawing to recieve a notebook with a piece of their choice on the cover. In order for comments to show as posted, parents must login and approve them. Good luck and happy commenting!

If you have any questions or concerns about any of the information provided, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am really excited and proud of the opportunities I am able to provide

Thank you for all of your help and support!
