ARTISTS ABOUND
from THE ART LADY @ JACKSON-VIA AND BURNLEY-MORAN
The Kindergarteners know their way all around the art room.
So far they have used pastel, tempera paint, pencils of color and plain, crayons and they can get tools as needed.
They are so excited now to see what's next. Today while painting our Eric Carle paper, I heard my dream statement over and over, "I love Art! They are soon to make collages of very hungry caterpillars.

First grade skills are impressing me so much. Most students can tell or teach others how to hold a brush and sweep. They are preparing to make a wide variety of creatures using collage methods of Picasso, eric Carle and others. What very busy spidersthey are!

Second graders are inspired by so much around them. They are continually bringing me art they do at home. Don't be surprised to see a new sketchbook come home. We're making them with re-purposed paper from all around the school to use for our personal ideas.

Third graders have learned the basics of form by shading with 6-B pencils, quite advanced, but they are concentrating and trying very hard to observe like a scientist. Next up is acrylic painted paper for their collages. Were going to use music as our theme.

Fourth graders a re very seriously working on drawing portfolios. They have nearly mastered blending using at least 3 values of grey. Space is a very challenging concept, but a necessary art principle to know. We are trying to make all our art 3-dimensional.

Please congratulate your student for their hard work.
