I believe my purpose as an art teacher is to provide the tools my students need to become relevant in the current world discussions and inspire creative thinking that will form our future world in positive ways. Art is about pushing our imagination and seeing what we are capable of. As a teacher I hope to not only have my students think of art as something beautiful to look at or make, but something that inspires thoughts, ideas, skill development and innovation. Students go to school to learn all the fac ... read morets and answer all the questions society needs them to answer correctly to become productive citizens. My art room is the place they can come to test out the idea that sometimes there are no right answers and play with divergent thought. We need innovators and creators, leaders and philosophers and art helps students find that inner light and light their own path.
I myself am a working artist that graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a focus in painting and printmaking. I have a degree in art education and have taught at all levels in pre K - 12, and even some adult programs. I am passionate about middle school art and am happy to be working with students at WCMS as they transition from childhood into their developmental teen years. Art can make a huge difference in a child's life, lets support that.
