Hello, and Thank You for visiting our Artsonia site!
I have been teaching Art at Lowell Scott Middle School since 1999. I truly love my job, and I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to work with students. Their creativity, willingness to stretch themselves and grow as artists, and their ability to create amazing artworks are inspiring. As you look through the artworks gallery, please remember that every student is in a different place in the journey of their artistic development. They grow ... read moreindividually from each and every experience and their willingness to try new things, even if they are difficult or intimidating, is the goal. I hope you enjoy the students' artworks as much as I enjoy watching their creation.
A little about who I am: I am a University of Idaho graduate, with a BFA in Art, BS in Visual Communications, Teaching Certificate, and MEd in Educational Leadership. I was honored with the 2006 Teacher of the Year award for Lowell Scott Middle School, and 2010 Middle School Art Teacher for the State of Idaho award. As an artist, I work with a variety of media, subjects, and styles. When my students ask me which is my favorite, I tell them that there are too many wonderful materials and techniques to choose just one. I draw many things, but mostly portraits. I paint abstracts with mostly bright colors and an upbeat mood. I love to work with clay pottery, building sculptural structures and characters. I have worked in photography for weddings, senior portraits, engagements, children's, and family photos. My most recent body of work is making collages using leftover materials from other projects that were otherwise headed for the trash.
Thank you students and parents for participating in Artsonia, visiting the site, and making LSMS such a wonderful place to work.
