Caroline Luke
Hello! My name is Caroline Luke, and I am the visual arts educator at Harwinton Consolidated School. I am excited to create and build our school's online portfolio of student artwork. I am passionate about art education and I strongly believe a solid foundation in the arts helps students to be successful in every aspect of their educational experience. Art teaches creative thinking and problem-solving skills, helps build social skills such as tolerance and empathy, fosters cultural awareness and understandi ... read moreng, and allows students to develop self-awareness and confidence.
A critical component of art education involves self-reflection and creating connections. Documenting and displaying artwork allows students to take pride in and develop a sense of ownership of their work. Artsonia provides another level of showing and sharing art, and it is especially helpful for family members or friends who might live far away to see children's artwork. Students love to see their work online, and it is a great way to see student progress over the months and years. There is a fundraising aspect as well- things such as mugs and t-shirts can be purchased featuring student work, and funds earned will go directly to the Art program.
Thank you for your participation in our online portfolio! If you haven't yet, please grant permission for your child's work to be viewed. No last names are used, and only student artwork is displayed here. Please let me know if you have any questions!
