Meet the Teachers  at Fleetridge Elementary School (Kansas City, Missouri)

Katie Gast I taught high school English for four years and enjoyed it, but until I began teaching art to students in grades K-5, I hadn't found my "place" in education. I love the enthusiasm and excitement younger students bring to the classroom! Their eagerness to learn always pushes me to learn more and integrate new strategies, technology, and projects into my instruction. Art naturally encompasses all other disciplines, and I enjoy incorporating history, math, reading, writing, and science into my art lessons and ... read moreprojects. To me, this allows students to see these other disciplines through the lens of art, which is very subjective and not as intimidating as some of the core subjects.
