Lorien Eck
Ms. Eck is a National Board Certified Teacher with a Masters in Education degree from St. Lawrence Unversity in New York.
She is a world traveler and lifelong learner who graduated from San Francisco State University in January of 1994, she started teaching art at the middle school level in the summer of 2002. She has traveled and taught in Ghana, West Africa; New York; and in a Burmese refugee camp in northern Thailand prior to current teaching position in Los Angeles, CA. Her vision for the arts and y ... read moreouth is that all youth have equal access to the visual and performing arts both to learn and master and to be exposed to. She believes that the arts provide meaning and texture to life and that without the arts life would be dry and without value- as beauty and truth is communicated through each of the five major art disciplines- visual arts, music, dance, theater, and the media arts.
Interests other than arts education, are raja yoga meditation, bike riding, tennis, climbing mountains, pomeranians, love for textiles, photography, and teaching values and medititation.
Personal aims and objectives include: self-transformation through Raja Yoga meditation practice; Masters of Education degree; higher education via travel to major world sites of great art and culture; and, lastly, film and media as a means of communication and expression of ideas and methods to raise awareness and to create a truly peaceful world once again.
