Leitha Stone
Art has always been a part of my life. I received my first commission at the age of 13 and worked throughout jr. and sr. high school and college as a freelance artist. I earned my art degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 1982, after graduation began working in the commercial art field as a graphic designer for newspapers, publishers and for a time the federal government. I also continued to do freelance art work. I began my classroom teaching career in 2003. I have taught art at every grade le ... read morevel and have also been an artist-in-residence for an adult day program for adults with developmental disabilities. I earned my Masters in 2008 from Notre Dame University of Maryland.
My personal art is in many mediums and often mixed media work. I primarily specialize in equine and equestrian art. My work has been featured on the covers of 2 Morgan World Championship Programs. I enjoy mixing my two passions horses and art.
Working with students and helping them to learn and grow is especially rewarding and fuels my passion for teaching, coaching and mentoring.
