I have studied art in all forms for most of my life. My formal education in Fine Arts began at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. After two years at Pratt, I was still unsure of what career I wanted to pursue in the arts. I accepted a position at a graphic design firm and did very well there although I still was not where I wanted to be. I always loved working with children but I hadn't thought about teaching art until that point. I moved back to NJ and transferred to Montclair State University which was ... read more originally founded as a teacher's college. Having gone to what I feel is one of the best art schools in NY coupled with my education at MSU has given me the best of both worlds. After teaching at a public high school for 2 years, I felt it was time to hone my skills teaching students with special needs. I never knew how much joy I would find here. I am constantly looking for new ways to keep my students excited and engaged in the process of art making as well as the finished product. Students are exposed to different mediums, artists and careers. I have recently redeveloped the art program at Deron 1 and I am extremely excited to share their work with you.
