Hana Smith
I teach art in a junior high school in Arkansas. Our town is very rural so our school is composed of about 300 students. I am blessed to teach these young men and women about the fascinating world of art! Some of our favorite projects include pantyhose sculptures, pose-able pattern snakes, and loom weaving. We added a ceramics studio as of last year, and it is a huge success. Students participated in wheel throwing and hand building assignments. Of course, the glazing and eventual firing of their work was the culminating event, and the room was alive with excitement, much like Christmas morning, as their prized possessions emerged from the kiln! Whatever the project, there is always something exciting happening in the art room!
