Greetings fellow ARTISTS and ART LOVERS! Welcome to our St. Thomas More School Art Gallery! We have been posting All of our Artwork online for MORE THAN 10 years now and TOTALLY LOVE IT! We hope you are enjoying this experience also. I personally have been involved with Art Education for well almost 30 years and have had THE BLESSED OPPORTUNITY to teach many, many, MANY FINE young people in my years at St. Thomas More (and a few other schools in the Metro area). I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree ... read morefrom Creighton University with my STUDIO concentration in Life Drawing. I have many hours in Ceramics/Pottery also, as I switched majors part-way through my studies there. I also received my Teaching Degree in Art Education from Creighton, and am Certified to teach Kindergarten through 12th Grades. I enjoy working with people of ALL AGES, though my heart settles best when working with younger children. I also have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development and Human Services from our local Technical College, so Elementary Instruction allows me to pool all of my interests together. Personally, I enjoy any type of Art-both for viewing AND producing on my own. With a Life Drawing Special interest, I navigate towards REALISM, but do also enjoy breaking free from that with creativity in abstraction. I love textiles, with sewing, quilting, and other fiber arts, as well as sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and especially PAINTING. I also love to recycle and work this into my lesson and own personal Art whenever I can. I love working with color and experimenting with various color combinations to produce new surprising effects. With the children's SPIRITUAL GROWTH as the center of my teaching mission, I try to give them the tools they need to be successful with their own ARTWORK, to develop a LOVE and an APPRECIATION for BEAUTY in the world that surrounds them, and I try to help them understand the importance of THEIR ROLE in making this world a better, more beautiful place. They CAN DO THIS by USING their GOD-GIVEN TALENTS and GIFTS of CREATIVITY.
