Ericka Baxter
My name is Ericka Arciniega and I am the Education Coordinator for Metropolitan State College’s Center for Visual Art (CVA), I oversee the CVA’s education outreach programs which include developing partnerships with various non-profit organizations in the Denver Metro Area.
Prior to joining the CVA I was a lead teacher, first as a member of Teach For America (TFA), the national teacher corps, and most recently as a Denver Public School teacher.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin whe ... read morere I studied Art History and Studio Art. In addition, I have a Master’s degree in Art Education from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education and a Master’s in Special Education from American University where I focused my efforts on learning how to use art to assist students with learning disabilities.
My experience in under-resourced urban schools and my work with students with special needs has convinced me that art education plays a vital role in helping all students reach their full potential. I’m committed to ensuring that students of all backgrounds have access to high quality art instruction, and I joined the CVA to make that commitment a reality for all the children of Denver.
