Biography

My name is Ms. Brenda Socha and I teach 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade art at Marinette Middle School in Marinette, WI. I have been teaching in the Marinette School District for 25 years, the majority at the middle level. I am a graduate of St. Norbert College located in De Pere, WI with a degree in Art Education. I am a member of the Wisconsin Art Education Association and also the National Art Education Association. I live in Marinette with my 2 dogs Cash and River, and a cat named Cinnamon. When I am not teaching and sharing what I know about art I love creating my own art! Mixed media paintings and upcycled leather jewelry are what I currently enjoy working with however also love pencil drawing, acrylic painting and pottery.

I would like to personally thank you for visiting the Marinette Middle School online art gallery. By the end of the school year I will have had close to 400 student artists and it is difficult to find enough area to display their artwork where family can view it. I encourage you to follow the progress of your family members and friends and please feel free to leave them positive comments about their artwork. This is an interactive site where parents oversee and approve comments that will be posting to their child's individual page. As the teacher I am able to leave private feedback about a student work for the parents to view. MMS students work very hard on their artwork and come to class each day excited to experiment with new art materials or perfect their skills in areas of painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture and textile arts. I believe that Arts Education is extremely important in the development of a child. It fosters creative thinking and problem solving as well as improve fine motor skills, all of which are beneficial in many career fields. In all art lessons students focus on improving their craftsmanship skills to create a quality piece of art.
