Biography
I have been teaching art for a total of 14 years. This is my 11th year at Chester Academy. Currently, I teach grades 3-8. The curriculum for grades 3-6 follows the nationally recognized and research backed choice-based art education and ?The Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) partnership. C.H.O.I.C.E stands for children having original, individualized, creative experiences. Each class begins with a demonstration and/or discussion on a particular style, technique, subject or material. Students my either develop this lesson further or choose their own medium and subject for the day. Students work independently at a variety of different centers. Grades 7 and 8 follow a modified version of the TAB curriculum. They have many open ended assignments designed to strengthen both technical and creative thinking skills.
In addition to teaching art, I am also a visual artist. Like many of my students, I like to work in a variety of different media such as oils, watercolors, pencil, charcoal and printmaking. My primary choice of subject matter is derived from nature - trees, flowers and landscapes. Personal Art Gallery
