Meet Susannah Colby

Biography
Ms. Colby is very fond of the arts and the outdoors. As a working artist she's completed several commissioned pieces over the last 15 years, participated in several exhibitions around the world and currently has a sculpture on permanent exhibit at the Paramount Theater in Rutland, Vermont. Many of her favorite outdoor activities include plein air painting, mountain biking, running, kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking and traveling.

Ms. Colby is originally from Groton, Vermont. She enjoys traveling and has been to several places in the world including Greece, England, Scotland, Peru and Italy. During her lengthy stay in Italy she spent several months plein air painting, completed an exhibition of her work and studied art history. She has also lived in Alaska, Washington State, California, New Hampshire and Maine. "There is no place I would rather come home to than Vermont. It's beautiful with its ever changing seasons and pallets of color."

Ms. Colby graduated Magna Cum Laude from Castleton State College with a B.A. and from Boston University with a M.F.A. in Art Education. She is highly qualified in Art Education by the state of Vermont and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education. Currently she teaches art classes at the Williamstown Middle High School and the Community College of Vermont.
