Artist Statement - My favorite part of the artwork is how I outlined the spoons with their same color. I also liked the blending of the colors when two of them met. Even though I outlined the spoons, and I liked it very much, I'd make them darker, or more visible to the audience. Some of the paint also looked "chipped off", and I added too much paint, which caused that and wrinkles on the paper. If I were to create it again, I would edit the parts I didn't really like. Painting the spoons were fun, I wanted to do that utensil as my pattern because I like the shape, and I also like eating! While creating this work, I learned about different types of colors, primay, secondary, related etc. That was the most important part, but also I used shapes to create the pattern. It was also an experience to paint. To create this work, I needed to first think about what I was going to make. After deciding on the pattern of spoons, I sketched out a plan on how to make/format the composition. Then, after being approved, I cut out patterns of three different sizes of spoons: small, medium and large. Then, following my plan, I traced the stencils onto my paper and the outline was finished. To finish it up, I painted the spoons, also based on my plan that I originally sketched. To add something I liked, I finally outlined the spoons. The only thing that surprised me was that the paint was chipping off! I didn't realize that adding too much paint would cause that. Next time, I'll try to re

My favorite part of this sculpture would probaly be the details I put into it. Things like sparkles on the back of the sculpture and the little dots of paint on the scissors. There are many little things that are eye catching. My least favorite part of my work would probaly be the paint on the back side of the cardboard. It looks kind of messy and unorganized. My biggest inspiration for this sculpture would be a skeleton. I know it sounds weird, but the first idea of this sculpture was to have a skeleton hand grabbing on to a human hand (the painted plaster hand would've been the skeleton hand ). Once I got started on this sculpture it turned into something better and I really like it. If I were to change this sculpture and do it again I would change the obvious cracks in the cardboard that shows. To change that I should've painted one more coat. I would've done this because it would look cleaner and more put together. One of the things I learned while creating this was something I never knew before. I had never worked with plaster before this sculpture so when I was working with the plaster I didnt know how messy it was! So I learned a very good lesson, put more newspaper down! There were many things that surprised me while making this sculpture, but I will tell you one, and that was the fact that plaster was still movable after it dries! I didn't know that was possible. What I did to create this artwork: First I made the plaster hand out of cardboard, then covered it with p

My favorite part of this sculpture is the bright yellow jewish star and my least favorite part are the arms. My inspiration for creating this was the holocaust. Im a jew and I thought it would be interesting to show a jewish figure. Back then during the holocaust jewish people had to wear the star of David on their clothes saying they were a jew. I learned that the holocaust should be talked about more and more to prevent a horrible event like it from happening again. I was surprised how the wire came out looking like the skeleton of a body. It helped get my point across even more since jewish people were starving. How I created this sculpture was by using wire and bending it to form the general human body shape. After that was done i took some cardboard and cut it out into the star of David. Since the badges they had to wear were yellow i painted it yellow making it the only bright color there. Then in my neatest hand writting I wrote jewish on the badge.
