Kindergarten students learned that when lines connect, shapes are made. We observed Thom Pastrano’s abstract artwork of Sesame Street characters and talked about how abstract artwork doesn’t have to look real all the time. We can mix things up and still make interesting pictures. Each class was assigned a Sesame Street character to identify the basic shapes of the features that represent that character. Then they began to trace shapes for their character, cut them out, and assemble them into an abstract collage onto construction paper. See if you can name those characters!! What fun, Kindergarten!!! Happy 45th Birthday, Sesame Street!!
