Students have been developing their artistic skills and understanding at Highlands Latin School this year! This choice-based exhibition is a collection of works produced through artist studies, project work and creative exploration. While all Highlands art students are represented, those in grades first through high school each selected a single piece from their own art portfolios. Their choices speak to their unique personalities, artistic styles, and confidences in art-making.
In addition to the Christmas and spring exhibitions this school year, ten students represented HLS at the Indiana Youth Art Month Exhibit, hosted by the Indiana State House in March. These individuals were selected for their production of high quality work. One student, Asher K. (Grade 1), received an honorable mention award for his mixed media cardinal. This piece and another, by Micah T. (Grade 4), were also selected for long-term display at the Indiana Department of Education. Congratulations to those artists!
While I was unable to finish out this last month of school (due to the birth of our third child), I am excited to continue teaching our young artists at Highands next school year. I hope you all have a wonderful summer. Please, enjoy the show!
