Hello, Sydney, you have a beautiful rendition of the northern lights. I have seen them many times. Do you know that the same kind of lights in the sky occur near the south pole as well. The northern lights are called Aurora Borealis and the southern lights are called Aroura Australis or something like that. The same kind of lights has even been detected by NASA's satellites as they flew by some of our outer planets. The presence of an Aurora requires a planet to have two things---an atmosphere and a magnetic field. They also require a lot of charged particles to be ejected at high speed from our sun and be streaming by the planet. Each color in the aurora is due to a specific chemical element. I am not certain whether the element is naturally in a planet's atmosphere or only in the particles ejected from our sun. I suppose it might be either or both. Thanks for sharing. -- Papa
