Austin - this is soooooo cool!!! I wish you hadn't thrown it away - I would have liked to have seen it in person, since the picture is neat, but it really doesn't capture the three dimensions and cool it must have been (especially based on seeing Alec's lacrosse guy)!! Very neat!! Love, Dad

Hi Austin, I just watched a slideshow of all your fantastic artwork. They are all extra special. I especially like this one and your Veteran's Day. You are coming up with some great ideas and doing an excellent job artistically. Aunt Shirley is coming for dinner tonight so I'm going to do the slide show for her. Keep up the good work. I really miss you. Love, Grandma and Grandpa D.

Austin - that's a great cartoon character. Did you develop it from a photo/cartoon or think it up on your own? I love the eyes and face - he looks really mean and on the hunt for a mouse!! Great job... It would - of course - be nice if you had entered an Artist's Statement, but I guess I"m just wasting my breath asking for that, eh???? Love, Dad

Very cool colors and shapes, Austin. What was the assignment?? What did you draw this on and what did you use - colored pencils or paint or ??? Did you have a design that you started with or did you just draw it with a ruler and an idea?? Love, Dad

Nice, although I'm thinking a little more effort on the lettering might have produced a little better results?? Were you in a hurry? Maybe I just don't fully appreciate it because I can't see what the assignment was (kind of like your brother's Red Bull can!!). Nice effort anyway, Austin. Love, Dad

Nice poster, Austin - what was the assignment here? Did you have to do TWO drawings side-by-side (since you did and your Brother did too)???? If you would spend as much time practicing your art as you do gaming on your laptop, you'd be a great artist, ya know?? Love, Dad

Very neat, Austin - how did you come up with the design?? What was the actual assignment? Is this really in watercolor?? (an Artist's Statement might help us know those things, hint, hint!!!). Good job and nice bright design, my boy!! Love, Dad

Nice, Austin - is this in honor of your new first car (assuming that you eventually get a design and start working on the old 2002 in the garage??). Where's the "propeller/Roundel in the middle?? Or is this a suggestion for BMW's NEW logo/emblem?? Very nice drawing!! Love, Dad

Nice, Austin - I ASSUME that this assignment was to draw some game that had multiple circles? Of course - if you had entered an "Artist's Statement" then I'd know for sure... Let's work on that a little better this year!! But very nice archery target! Love, Dad

OK, I give up - it doesn't look to have any weapons and it doesn't appear to be close to blowing up, so I'm not sure that I believe that you drew it, Austin??
What was the theme? (of course - if you had entered an Artist's Statement, then I'd know all of that!!!).
Maybe I'LL start entering the Artist's Statements for you and boy will YOU be surprised what I could come up with!!! Should I just quit harping on this, since you don't appear motivated to actually enter these so that people that are looking at your art know what they're looking at and what the assignment was and how you got the ideas??? Anyway - very nice drawing!!!
Love, Dad

Hello Austin from San Diego...You have three new pieces since I've checked. They are all really nice. I especially like this one....you used some of my favorite colors. We are so proud of your accomplishments this year. Looking forward to hearing your comments on each of them when we get home. Love you and miss you, Grandma and Grandpa D.

Austin - that's an awesome design and very clever!!! As with Alec's, a minute ago - when I first looked at it, I didn't see the sports theme, and I thought that it was just a very awesome stained glass window design, but then I looked a little closer and saw that it had the sports theme!!! Very awesome artwork, my boy!!! (it would be even MORE awesome if you had an artist's statement entered so that we could all understand WHERE you got the idea, and WHAT materials you used to draw and color it, and HOW exactly you got the exact same design replicated so precisely in all four quadrants!!!). Love, Dad

Good Morning Austin from Florida, This is a very neat house you designed. I believe you inherited some of that "Damer Design" talent. I'm so happy that you have art again this semester. You have done some pretty special things this past year. Love you and miss you, Grandma Damer

Austin - that is VERY clever!!! Did Ms. Goodman have some ideas for you to pick from or did you come up with this on your own (maybe an "Artist's Statement" would explain some of this... HINT, HINT, HINT!!). What software did you use for this? Maybe I'll add your Uncle Phil to your Fan Club - he'd probably like to see this, since this is what he does for a living... Love, Dad

Austin - this is AWESOME - I liked Alec's hockey sticks (for obvious reasons!!!) but your baseballs are bigger and so they have a better opportunity to show the "colors" better than the skinny hockey sticks, and you did a really great job of graduating the colors from one to the next for this project!! Great work!! Love, Dad

Great job, Austin! Not surprised you would choose one of your favorite sports for the subject. Must have taken lots of patience to draw all those baseballs. Love you much, Grandma Damer

Austin, I just got around to viewing your new work. I agree this is probably not your very best piece but I think it is very nice and appropriate for the contest. Good Luck...hope you come in the winner. That $50 gift to the winner would be enough incentive for me! Hats off to your art teacher. I think you have shown great improvement this year. Grandma Damer

Love the tribute to veterans even though your part was easy. If you did each star individually it might have been more of a challenge! Glad you were a part of such a neat assignment. Maybe a camo humvee in the background next time for more of a challenge! Aunt Gina and Uncle Jeff

Austin, I really like this. It reminds me of the wall in your room which was a lot of work too. Did you ask Ryan and Annie to join your fan club? I think they'd be thrilled that you ask. You are doing some really special things....keep'em coming!!! Love, Grandma Damer

Austin - VERY cool drawing that your class put together - but - as I told your Brother - you need to enter an "Artist's Statement" and explain which one of the blocks that you actually drew - 2nd row down from the top and 3rd block over from the left, for example... Very neat!!! Love, -- Dad

Nice job, Austin - I used to draw dirt bikes all the time and they're kind of hard to get all of the perspectives right and capture the movement, but if you practice some at home, then I'm sure that you'll get better and better at it - and it would be a LOT better use of your time than those stupid computer games that you love to play!! Great job - love, -- Dad

Austin--First thing you are going to need to do is help Grandma figure out exactly how to send you notes! I really like all your work. I thought the leaf was very real with the shades of color etc. Looked like you had just picked it from a tree. The "D" sketch was outstanding. All were very good. Next time I suggest going to the Art Museum, I'm sure I'll hear, "That sounds like a good idea, Grams!" Can't wait to receive more--keep them coming. Love you, Grandma Damer

Austin - That's a great drawing of the leaf - what did you use - paint or chalk or ??? Can't tell from the photo. Thanks for sharing it - do you choose what goes in your Artsonia account or the teacher (since you have about seven pieces of Artwork and Alec has only about three)?? Love, Dad -- Dad

Austin - THAT's what I'm talking about - that is a very good Artist's Statement and it gives us some idea of the background of the artwork. Please try and do a nice little write-up on all of your other artwork too, so that all of the people in your "Fan Club" can understand more about your art (and you might want to sign it "Austin" down at the end of each, too!!). Love, -- Dad

Hi Austin - Very nice!!! But you can always try and use that great mind to be more creative... I'm assuming that the example that she gave you was the drawing of your hand drawing a picture, but you can always think a few minutes before you start drawing - maybe you could have done your hand on the throttle grip of the dirt bike or your hand around a baseball bat? Something DIFFERENT from everyone else, and something UNIQUE to you?? Anyway - it's a great drawing and I'm just saying that I'd like to see some of that creativity that you used to use all the time when you were younger and drawing stuff all the time around the house (or ON the house... on the walls, etc.)!!! -- Love, Dad
