I loved your tile that has so many things to draw my interest from the crisp design, the bright colors and the coiled texture of the background which is so clever! I also liked that the aliens were blobby so I could imagine what they might look like but didn’t have to have scary ideas about even including that the aliens could actually be drawn back into the ship to go away.

This ceramic piece is awesome! I look forward to seeing it up close when you bring it home. Please remind me to give you good packaging like bubble wrap to help keep it safe when you can bring it home!

First my eye was drawn to the way your paper shapes curved and bent to move between, around and over each other. Then I became intrigued by all the different patterns you drew. I ended up thinking if this was a very large sculpture that I would have fun walking different paths through it. This is a neat piece!

I think you were clever to weave a T into your hanging. Bordering the red yarn with the black and blue yarns really draws your eye to the T. Good work!

Travis, I loved the flower on the lid of this ceramic piece, and am so sorry that the box broke in your backpack. Mom and I look forward to you making and doing many more great, fun and beautiful things in the future.

I really like your sun (setting or rising), above the ocean (or lake), with seagulls flying by and your self portrait. That is a lot better and more detailed than I could do when I was in third grade!

Watering the plants barefoot – it must be summer! I like the T-shirt :-)

I really liked your colorful “T” painting. It makes me feel happy. I think it would be fun to have a tee shirt that looked just like it. Your painting reminded me of a crayon drawing project I assigned my students when I taught art. First they drew one of Phil’s large ragged edged leaves. Phil was my big philodendron plant, that I brought to school for the day. Then they outlined the leaf drawing in repeated colors like your “T”.

Great color, texture and pattern -- it makes me think of the ripples spreading out on a pond when a pebble is thrown into the still water.

I think your penguins who standout crisply against the background are getting ready to have a good time. They seem to be curiously looking at me. I wonder if they are going to invite me to go somewhere with them. Your background of blues and greens is intriguing. There’s a lot to like in this painting. Grandma

Travis, When I saw your Willis Tower drawing I immediately thought of Faith Ringold's book and was excited to see your class had read and seen her artwork in Tar Beach. This summer, Aunt Lara and I saw an exhibit in London of her art that had several quits with borders like the one in your drawing. You did a great job on your borders. I think it would be fun to have a quilt with those borders. But I wouldn't like to fly over the top of a huge skyscraper though...I don't like heights!

I like your Willis Tower drawing - have you been up to the top of it? My friend and I visited this summer and she really enjoyed the views.
