Wesley, You are doing amazing work. I think you may have inherited some of your dad’s talent. I love your color choices in so many of these.

Wesley! Art with Attitude! Your first political cartoon! I'm proud of you. I don't know how you created this, but you'll have to tell me next time I see you in person. Bert is a great touch!

Wesley, what a great sketch! I am impressed with the details. Your artistic skills continue to grow. Keep up the good work.

Hey, Wesley. I really like this piece. The butterfly looks so real. The background - soft shades of green with the crisp red flowers - adds a hint of fantasy world. Good work!

Wesley, you're off to a good start this school year. Is this a pencil drawing? I like the overlapping letters and the shading. Good work. I look forward to more in 5th grade!

Wesley, what a very very cool three-dimensional piece of art. There is much to admire. Hard to tell in the photo what they are, but the round objects laid out on an open book (and is the blue strip waves?) creates a good effect. Setting the entire piece on and around an opened book makes it all very interesting. Good job!

Very interesting. I see that this is a print. I am curious to know how it was done.

Wesley, I really like geometric art. Or is it artistic geometry? I'm glad you've learned about it. Nice job!

Wesley, I like this new artwork by you. I especially appreciate the fine detail of your drawing. I also like this wisps of purple and green to add just a touch of color. Keep up the good work!

What a very interesting work of art. Your skills keep improving. I'd like you to tell me all about this one. I think it must tell a story.

To me this seems to be a hummingbird drinking the nectar from a flower. The background, although you probably didn't intend it, reminds me of the aurora borealis (northern lights) that I have seen on a canoe trip in the north woods. Lovely. You do good work, Wesley. Papà

Wow, Wesley! Do you realize how much your artistic skills have grown? There is so much to like about this painting, the many details for example. But what grabs me most is the two dragons. What wonderful, fanciful, scary but somehow silly creatures. When I first saw this artwork, my eyes went straight to the blue dragon. And they still travel to him every time I look at this painting. What a creature you've created!

Wow! This is really an intricate drawing. I appreciate all the little details.

Wesley, I can feel the power of the waves when I look at your painting. Not only have you put great details in your painting, but you have put real feeling into it. That is hard to do. Bravo! Love, Papà

That is quite a detailed rooster. Good (and delightfully fanciful) details.

It looks like stained glass. Stained glass feet! Cool!

Wow, Wesley! You've captured the weirdness of Salvador Dali nicely. He was one of the great artists of the 20th century, but he did really strange stuff. I love his work. Keep up the good work.

Wesley, This is another favorite of mine. It looks and feels like a Vincent Van Gogh painting. You have captured the essence of a moonlit sky, as well as a field of pumpkins in October. Good job! Papà

Wesley, I LOVE this painting. I thought to myself that I know Mr. Andy teaches you about famous artists and then has you practice their style. I recognized the pointilist style right away. I took a while to remember Georges Seurat, because there were a lot of pointilists. Good job!

Wesley, Nice work. I like how colorful and geometric you painting is. It reminds me of a stained glass window, although I'll never see one quite like this in a church window.

Wesley, I like your use of many small lines to create the lion's coat. It's much more interesting than just coloring the lion brown. And that looks like a very happy female lion who just wants to be your friend. Or maybe that looks says, "Mmmm. You look delicious!"

Dear Papa, Those boxes are actually Huts. It is Alexandra David Neel's adventure to Lasa, Tibet with Yomden. This is a true story. The leader of Lasa is The Dali Lama, his palace is the one on top of the hill. The citizens of Lasa live in those little huts. Thanks, Wesley

Wesley, another cool piece of art from you! I think you captured the Tibetan landscape very well, the way the mountains dominate everything. In both paintings, the mountains loom over the landscape. I like the contrast between the blue mountains and the red sky. I especially like the brown/black shades of the mountains in the second picture. And all those black rectangles - is that a cemetery?

Wesley, I have never heard of the artist, Franz Marc. After seeing your colorful cow (done in his style, I assume), I will have to learn about him. Thanks for introducing me to a new artist. Keep up the good work. Papà

Wesley, Wow! I really like your "Beneath the Surface" painting. I like the many colors and the depiction of what goes on in our lives "beneath the surface" that people don't see or even know about. Keep up the good work.
