I can only remember the stages to develop the clay for the red to be possible. First we prepared , kneaded, the clay, next we modeled the face in a press-on mask, we allowed it to dry for several days after lass. When we took the clay out of the plastic mask mold we allowed it to dry completely. That took three days. We called it the bone dry stage. Next, we bisque fired and thy all survived. Lastly we brushed on the glaze choice three times. Let it dry and fired to a high shine or over night to about 1850 degrees. It was warm to the touch the next day when we took it out of the kiln, but it was shiny, red, smooth and beautiful.

Red is a difficult color to create on clay. You seem to have done very well and I hope you have a chance to take it home for your family to see.

I love this color. Red is what I wanted now I know how to create it. It took a whole week to mature to this final stage, Red.
