Lauren, You added so many great details on this piece from the buttons, on the coat, to the shapes on the umbrella. I can imagine this you walking to school with your umbrella in your pink raincoat and splashing in the puddles:) Love, mom

I like the way you balanced a limited use of colors throughout this piece. It helps to reallly helps to focus on the 'whole piece' and really take in just how tall the skyscrapers are compared to the tight-rope walker--AND how very, very high he is from the ground. It even makes me nervous as I hope he or she makes it across! If they do, maybe they will go shopping in one of the towers-I see a sign for Macy's at top of one of the buildings:) love, mom

It's interesting to see how you differentiated what we see when we look at your reflection in the mirror and how you interpret your self-portrait in your painting. I like the hot air ballon and the little details you included like the clips to hold the canvas to the easel. Nice work! Love, mom

We are very impressed with your body of work Lauren. All your artwork is interesting and expressive. The hot air balloon in the triple self portrait is suggestive to us that you might want to go on a ride in one. Keep up the good work.

Lauren, The white Dancing Shoe Factory drew our immediate attention set between the two buildings. For you, a door is not just a door, each of your doors is distinct. Is that you going into the shoe factory with your Mom? (ha) The tight rope walker reminder us of when Nik Walenda walked in Chicago. Love you....

Lauren, I love the background colors and the intricate and unique patterns in each part of the leaf you painted. Fall is my favorite time of the year especially when we can walk to school together, collect our favorite and most interesting leaves and view the beautiful colors of the leaves that have fallen across our path. Your painting reminds me of our walks. XOXO Mom
