cute dragon. I notice that you added a little bit of shading under the legs. That is good. We should work on shading together.

I REALLY like this. It is so dramatic. I love those deep colors against the lighter ones. what did you name this painting? If you haven't, you should give it a name. I think you should frame this one.

Payne. this is one of my favorites I have seen you do. You colored everything in! You used a monochromatic color scheme, and your subject is off-center which is very good composition. Your proportions of positive and negative space are perfect. Please give this picture to Granan and I will put it in a frame for your bedroom! You can take your stature of liberty home when you have a bookshelf and hang the picture next to it.
-- Granan
- on September 23, 2015

You made this with the last art work I saw. Cool! We need to make some of these together. Will you teach me?
-- Granan
- on August 27, 2015
I recognize this! You made a cube out of the cross design! How clever! I like the way all the sides of the cube are different but still have similar qualities. That makes for a really interesting design. That's called "repetition through variation."
-- Nancy
- on August 27, 2015
That looks really cool, Good Job Payne!
-- Khalil
- on June 2, 2015

I like the way you repeated the same size square but made each square different with line and texture. Then you put all the squares together to make a completely different shape. Also, all the negative space is dark which makes for a very bold image.
-- Granan
- on June 2, 2015

This is good composition. Usually when you are drawing a single object and you place the main focus in the center of the page it doesn't work too good because your eye tends to stay focused on, in this case, the face in the center of the page. The shape of the hat in the upper left corner of the page helps make the eye travel down the left side to the wizard's shirt and then his beard takes you back to the face. Good work!
-- Granan

This is really nice! I like your color pallet. It looks like you spent more time with this piece. I like to see that. Sometimes it looks like you are in too big a hurry to finish your drawings. This looks like you put thought and took pains to make it look good.

Is there a cat in this hat? What if you had a cat's tail sticking out from under the hat? Just wondering. The hat is your mother's signature color.

Is this you singing in choir? Did you color the hair or did you cut it out of paper? I see that the mouth and the headare perfect circles.
-- Granan
- on January 23, 2015

Hi Payne. I can't tell if this is paper or if you actually painted the picture. You'll have to tell me about this art. Why did you choose such a limited pallet? And why did you paint everything dark except for the head? ........very interesting. I'm sure there is a story behind this as there usually is with your artwork.

You always do such good line drawings. You'll have to tell me about this one. It looks like one of your friends.
-- Granan
- on January 14, 2015

Payne, this is a wonderful design! This is probably the strongest composition I have ever seen you do! You took something ordinary like a spider web and cropped it and arranged it on the page to where it is much more interesting than just looking at the entire spider web. This one needs to go in a frame and hung on the wall!
-- Granan
- on January 14, 2015

this looks like Fall! Good job. I like that you used upper and lower case letter. It makes it more interesting.
-- Granan
- on January 14, 2015

Hi Payne, I like the balloons lifting your house "up". I also like the way you used orange on blue paper. Did you know blue and orange are complimentary colors?
-- Granan
- on January 14, 2015

Payne, I'm glad to see you are experimenting with oil pastels! I like the way you have a pattern of squiggly vertical lines and then placed the form of the fish diagonally across the vertical lines to break it up and make it more interesting. Your color choices are very nice and lively. Let's draw with oil pastels together sometime.
-- Granan
- on January 14, 2015

Payne, this is really clever! I like the way you show the hand holding the phone or walkie talkie, whichever it is.

Payne. I can't believe you have already learned about perspective! Granan didn't get to learn about perspective until the 7th grade. This is so good. I can't wait until we can do some of these perspective drawings together!

Payne, this is so good. It looks like cheerleading practice to me! Great movement in your stick figures. Granan
-- Granan

I like this Payne. You'll have to tell me about this painting when I see you. It made me automatically think about the Main Street bridge that goes over the Arkansas River from Little Rock to North Little Rock because of the arch. The Dutch artist Piet Mondrian did abstracts similar to this. Grannan will show you some pictures of his work.

You did a very good job. It looks like a rainbow!
-- Grannan

this is so creative. I love the way you worked the rainbow pattern in because I know how much you love rainbows. The lines you used on the top of the figure are very interesting. I like the way some of the lines have a weaving effect.
-- Grannan

You really did a good job on this mask. I love your use of reds, yellows and orange. You should do some more of these using different figures. I bet you could create some on your own because you can draw anything.
