Dear Miley, I wanted to say "Peek-a-boo!" when I saw your art piece. Then I wondered who was peeking out of the tree. Even the clouds in the sky show movement! From a distance, the cloud next to the tree looks as if it is hopping over the pumpkin. I love that. Cool way of printing your name, too. Thanks, Miley! Always enjoy seeing the world through your eyes! Love, Emily

Wow, Miley, I didn't know that zig-zags could be so eloquent. They are saying that the cat is scared to me. Or is he trying to scare someone else. What would happen if I said, "Boo!" Love it.

Miley -- Looking at this painting makes me realize how awesome the background is and how it adds to the excitement and action of the horse. The hoofs turned under gives the horse movement, too. You are excellent as an artist. I love seeing what you see in a picture. That is being a true artist. Sending your Mom a link of pictures from a safari in Africa....I think you will love these. Thanks, Miley.

Miley, this is now my favorite Santa Claus! Let's see, the expression on his face makes me think he sees a gigantic cookie by the tree, or Rudolph blew his red nose and it burned out the light, or he heard from Fox News that no one believes in him any more. Love it! Thanks, Miley!!!!

Oh, Miley....this is awesome. So much action. Looks as of the gingerbread boy is scared of his shadow? I could easily make up a story about this one. What if the shadow took a bite of the gingerbread boy? He might be trying to destroy the gingerbread shadow, a bite by bite.

Wow, Miley, is that snow on the roof? We just had some, and feeling like some more later. The lighted windows give an illusion of life, life is good, so I mark this artistic composition great. Not sure what the chimney is doing sliding down, unless Santa Claus lost his balance? As always, you make me think!!!!

Miley, this is awesome. You really captured 'Butch'! Love the cheeks - and the angle of his hat framing his face. And the smirky half-smile and the beady eyes makes this a character to be reckoned with. Great job, Miley, Emily

Oh, Miley, I thought of a name for your picture....Rainbow of Hope. The colors you chose are so vibrant, and to me, when our world is colored vibrantly, it becomes hope for those who view it. Thanks, Miley.

Miley, again, you used color to make the action of the figure on the horse stand out. I like the way the horse is rearing up. You have a gift of showing action, not just a plain placid scene. I always love to see what your next painting will be. Vivid. The orange and red side by side make my eyes pop. Good job, Miley!

Oh, Miley....your paintings always show action. I love the vibrant colors you use to make the action come forth. I used to watch Indian Dances in assembly when I was a young girl about your age. They were fascinating. There were no words spoken just the constant beat of the drums by a Grandpa Indian. The feathers dipped and swayed on the young Indian's head with each step and movement of the grandson. There didn't seem to be a beginning or an end....And your painting reminds me of that mind-picture I have. Thank you for the colorful reminder....I like the detail of the feathers!

Awesome, Miley! You have captured the sound and heart of music. Music is made up of a melody, harmony and rhythm and you captured all three in this painting with lines and color. Simply, you have created the essence of music! Congrats, Miley! Love, Emily

Oh, Miley, thinking about your eyes, matching the sky of your artwork. The flowers remind me of a perky smile in Spring.who knew they were hiding under all the snow for so long. This picture reminds me of a happy look at Spring. Thanks... Miley Emily

Dear, Miley... I shivered when I saw your painting. Such a realistic view of winter on a farm. I can see cows in the barn waiting to be milked. The red barn brings some warmth. Lots of details...the dark cloud is just waiting to dump more snow like a storm of confetti! Wonderful work..Miley! Thanks, Emily

Miley, You really captured Gr.Grandpa's birds at the feeder. Love it, Great Gran & Poppa
- on August 31, 2014

Oh, Miley... I love the way you caught the properties of light in your painting. Even a flickering candle radiates in a dark room and spreads wonder. You have caught this in your painting. This candle reminds me of your smile...making your corner of life a brighter world. The use of circles pulls us to the light...thanks, Miley. Your friend, Emily

Beautiful picture Miley. I love the cute snowman. This would make a great Christmas card. Merry Christmas from your cousins in Ohio!!

Saw all the pictures on facebook -- it really did snow in Arkansas. It hasn't snowed in Illinois. Love the fact that the SnowMan is bigger than you are! It would be hard to get his head on top of his body. When I put a snow flake on facebook - I used an image I found online. I like yours better. They are all just a little bit different the way snow flakes are. Lots of detail in your picture. Enough to hang a story on. Love the hands on the hips. Great picture, Miley. Your friend, Emily

Miley, Loved your ship and snowflake. Glad you enjoy art. Great Gran
- on August 31, 2014
Dear Miley. This pattern against the black reminds me of a star shining in the sky in the darkest night of the year. I wonder if stars have different patterns like snow flakes. Reminds me, too, of God's Creation -- so complex and beautiful and perfectly symmetrical. Good work, Miley. When a work of art causes a story in my mind, it is the best. Your friend, Emily

Oh, Miley, love the shading and the detail of your fall leaves. Water-color, right? Seems that you caught the wind blowing the leaves, leaving bits of color in the air. How did you manage that? When I watched a flurry of leaves, much like you painted, scurry across the road and pushed by the wind, I thought it looked like a covey of birds hotfooting in a hurry. Thanks, Miley. Your friend, Emily

Oh, Miley, I love this portrayal of finding the new world. History and art are bosom buddies....and you captured the essence of adventure and risk taking. I like the 'power' colors you chose for the ship. Congrats, Miley.

Your painting tickles me. It made me think it could be an illustration of a story. There is so much action in the way you drew the horse. Somehow it looks like a horse and his cowboy on a teeter-totter. The best of friends like Mary and her lamb. Miley, this picture made me laugh because of the action I see in the picture. I love the shading in the background. Makes the horse stand out. The directions of the crayon give it more movement. I wonder if the horse is leaving down to whisper a secret? He is scared of heights? Thanks for a vivid feeling in your painting.

Dear Miley, I can almost feel the wind blowing as the flag flies in its wake. Such depth and movement is hard to achieve, and yet, you did! Love what the flag stands for, and you captured it here. Your friend, Emily

Nothing like a Redbird Chat. As usual, just one is doing all the chirping. The background shows action behind the Redbird Twins. They are going to break out in a dance any minute, with their claws a-tapping. Good work, Miley! i like seeing what you see. Emily

Dear Miley, The detailed drawings show me the story of Kindergarten that includes friendship, fun activity and exploring new learning. As Kindergarten grows to a close, in the next years, what you have learned will always be in your heart and you will remember this year with joy. And I am looking forward to seeing First Grade through your eyes, Emily

Dear Miley, Another picture that has a lot of movement in it, as opposed to being static. What I see is a friendly train engine waving goodbye. Not sure that is what you see. But I am left for questions: Why is this train off the track? Speed? Who is he waving at? This is the kind of picture that has 'story' written all over it. Sometime you will will have to tell me what you see? Your friend, Emily

I love your kitty cat, Miley! She has beautiful eyes! Great job, sunshine!
-- Mom
- on May 1, 2013
After going eye to eye with your picture of a cat, I wondered what her story is. Is she called The Pink Lady? With her eyes as a clue, I see she is an aware feline critter, and nothing escapes her. She knows what I am thinking before I think it. A very dainty cat-person who likes to have things in her life just so. She hears many things, and knows when we discuss her. She doesn't get her feelings hurt easily. She knows more than she meows and keeps it hidden in her heart! Thanks, MIley, for the study on the Pink Lady!

Dear Miley, The wide wide world -- So many living beings with feet attached by gravity to this globe. So many animals populate the earth, and fish swimming through the blue sea. Laughter and tears fill the air that surrounds the earth with its vibrations. Along with the flights of birds and planes. The path of the blue crayon follows the gulf stream. A symbolic look at the world, but as with symbols, there is more to be seen. Thanks, Miley, for the lesson in seeing more!

MIley, I liked the sense of humor you used in this picture. I loved the way you 'stashed' the gold at the foot of the rainbow. Then the look on the leprechaun's face as he is either juggling the gold or catching it as it slides down the rainbow, makes it fun. You drew a story. Some day you may be illustrating stories, or drawing a story that doesn't need words! Great, Miley!!!! I love seeing your work! Your friend, Emily

Love the use of the shadows. And the contrast in the sky from dark to brilliant. Every time I see a picture posted, I see you have learned something new. An artist once told me that what gives a painting character is light and shadows!
