Lake Prairie Art News, April 19th
from Ms. Sayers, Lake Prairie's Art Teacher

Congratulations to Emma, Henry, and Seth for receiving their Artsonia Hall of Fame Trophies.

  • Artsonia Hall of Fame Raffle - From now until May 17th, any student who participates in Artsonia and receives their Hall of Fame trophy will be entered into a raffle.  The winner of the raffle will get a t-shirt with one piece of their artwork on it.
In order to get their Hall of Fame trophy they need 5 pieces of artwork (which I am trying
very hard to make sure they all have that), 5 fan club members, and 5 comments from fan
club members.  The fan club members and comments must be approved by parents in order
          for them to count.

  • Lake Prairie Art now has its own website!!!  On the Lpart.weebly.com website you can view latest news, student videos, newsletters, online activies, and apps we use in the art room.

  • This past week the halls of Lake Prairie have been filled with student arwork for the Art Show.  Each student has at least 1 piece of artwork up.  If you have a chance stop by and check out your favorite artists work.

Thanks to Mrs. Henke for helping photograph all of the great artwork!!
When you volunteer to photograph artwork, you can pick the day, time, and length of stay to do the work (as needed), but what is accomplished is greatly appreciated not only by Ms. Sayers, but the students and their fan club members.

  • 2nd Grade is learning about butterflies and their life cycles.  We created shrinky dink butterflies.  Very soon they will have real butterflies to watch grow in their classroom!

  • 4th Grade has been learning about the artist Wyland and his mission to help keep our oceans and water supply clean.  He is best know for his work of marine life.  Students created a background by mixing tints (light ranges of a color) and then cut out sea animals.  We also brought it in to the app Percolator to make it look like they were scuba divers.

  • 5th Grade has been working on the laptops to create 2 point perspective projects.  We used to program SumoPaint to create these art works.
Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
