Art News for December
from Miss Zoufal
Happy Winter Monteith Families!
We have moved into our winter displays at Monteith with 4th grade Tie Dyed snowflakes and 2nd grade Snowman portraits in three viewpoints on the main floor. Kindergarten Reindeer Paper Sculptures greet students outside the art room, and first graders Patterned Mittens wave at students coming up the stairs to the second floor. Students are excited for snow.
With your Artsonia donations, we are able to purchase our 7th iPad for the art room this month! Thank you so much for supporting our program through purchasing items with your students' artworks. Speaking of winter sales...here are some Artsonia deals and steals happening now:
Blowout Sale on Mugs! Wake up to a work of art every morning! SALE starting at $12.95 until December 9, Order by December 18 for Christmas.
Holiday Cards – Sale $13.95 (Set of 8) Put a new spin on an old tradition! Custom holiday cards for family and friends with your child's latest artwork!
Ornaments, The Perfect Stocking-Stuffer! SALE $10.95, Order by December 18 for Christmas

I wanted to share some ideas for activities that you can do during Winter Break that are art related.
  • Take a trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts: Admission is free as Wayne County Residents with a drivers license and student ID.
  • Visit the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House lights shows outside! There are many different colors, patterns, and rhythms to enjoy on this great walking tour of the Ford House estate and light show combining music and an artistic light display.
  • Visit Arts and Scraps at 16135 Harper Ave, Detroit, MI 48224 and pick up a brown bag of exciting supplies to create artworks at home.
These are just a few ideas, but our community has so much more to explore during our Winter Season. I hope that your family enjoys their vacation!

Sincerely,
Miss Zoufal
