Art News for January
from Miss Zoufal
Welcome to a New Year!
Students have enjoyed learning how to take their own photogaphs using our iPad's in the art room. We have learned how to position our artworks, focus, and crop out items that aren't needed for a great final photograph. Thinking of how we are connecting technology with our artworks, students are also able to write artist statements during Free Choice Time (early finisher on a project).

If your student has technology at home, I wanted to share some different apps for creating art and learning about artists.
  • The "How to Make Origami" app is simple and easy to use. Follow the step-by-step instructions and watch the 3D animation carefully. And don’t worry...you’d have to try really hard to get confused.
  • Learning to Draw is Fun
This app is a simplified version of the earlier "Let's Learn How to Draw" app. This one is great for Kinders and 1st graders just starting out.
  • Kids Doodle
"Kids Doodle" is a pretty easy-to-use painting application that is designed specifically for little kids to explore doodling.
I know many students like to doodle and create masterpieces during their free time at home. Using something as simple as a used envelope can help your student have a platform to draw. In our art room, we enjoy both creating artworks out of many materials, and sharing them with our family and friends with uploads of our photographs through Artsonia. Thank you for supporting your student at home with their creativity!

Sincerely,
Miss Zoufal
