Just for Kindergarten

What is Art?

Students used the primary colors to mix secondary colors in these little abstract paintings. They named their masterpieces and posed before green screen pretending to study their own framed artwork.

Kindergarten Landscapes

Students explored the secondary colors with these beautiful pumpkin patch landscape collages. They mixed paint to make purple and added wind to their mysterious sky. They mixed to make green for grass, orange for lines that curve down the pumpkin, and brown for stems and leaves. Notice all the overlapping as they placed a pumpkin in the foreground, middleground, and background.
Some only have a speck of horizon line showing, but that was important too.

Just for Grade 1

Apple Still Life

First graders learned to create a still life inspired by Paul Cezanne as they overlapped apples to create depth. They painted the wallpaper and tablecloth with line, shape, and color pattern.

Just for Grade 2

Symmetrical Butterflies

Second graders are learning how to draw on the iPad with styluses to create symmetrical butterflies filled with color in the sketchbook app.
They posed and layered their own bodies into their drawing using the superimpose app.

Just for Grade 3

Blue Dog

Third graders worked on a Blue Dog image in the style of George Rodrigue. These dogs were painted in a monochromatic color scheme (view our monochromatic Fugleflick to learn what this means). Then the backgrounds were painted with color, line, and shape pattern balanced from left to right.

The Scream Collage

Students studied the most famous art work of Edvard Munch, The Scream. http://drydenart.weebly.com/fugleblog/thank-you-very-munch
They then created a spoof of his piece with their own scream, ice scream, or scream with ice scream pose.

Just for Grade 5

Light Up Robots

Students designed a creative 3-D looking robot and made it light up with paper circuits. This project was made possible by donors who supported our classroom via Donorschoose.org
