Lake Prairie Art News, March 2
from Ms. Sayers, Lake Prairie's Art Teacher

Did you know...
that when Lake Prairie started Artsonia at the end of October we were ranked as 70th in the state & today we are ranked #6.
This is due not only to the amount of artwork that has been added, but it is also figured by the number of fan club members, fan comments, and artist statements we have.  Please help us better our ranking by taking the time to add or approve comments and having your child add an artist statement or two.
If we are in the top ranking schools by July, Artsonia will provide us with special recognition.

  • Students in 2nd - 5th grade are participating in Doodle 4 Google where they are trying to draw the next logo for Google of their "Best Day Ever".  Drawings will be submitted in about 2 weeks so please be sure that I have your child's permission slip (I only need the first page) to participate in the contest.  More info

  • 2nd grade drew owls that we turned into "Wise Old Owls" Whoo Have a Tip for You.  After the drawings were done we brought them into the FaceJack app where students recorded what they thought was Wise or Smart to do.  See/Listen to them.

  • Kindergarten has been working on drawing Giraffes in connection with the book "Giraffes Can't Dance".  We have been using the Direct Draw method which is where the students watch the teacher draw a shape or something and they try to make the same marks.

  • 1st has been working on the iPads creating Negative and Positive Hearts and then they used the WordFoto app to add words like candy hearts.  They have also been creating some "Paw-some Tigers.  Check out the hearts & compliment your favorite artist and the tigers will be posted next week.
