Hello!
It's been a long winter this year, hasn't it? One of those winters where hiberation doesn't sound so bad! But we've still been busy in the art room, creating many of our own masterpieces.

All classes were busy before Christmas with festive art projects. We even decorated the art room doors as Santa's Workshop. After Christmas break, we worked on all things snow-inspired and then began our big Jim Dine Hearts project. Jim Dine is a pop artist and did a series of abstract, colorful hearts as a series. All the hearts from each class decorated the hallway, ready for Valentine's Day.
Now the classes are thinking spring. K-3 are working on flowers and butterflies while 4-12 are learning about the Manga art style, originated in Japan but now one of the most popular art styles around the world. After drawing exercises, the students will be doing a master study of another artist, a panel from a Manga comic before creating their own Manga character.
I am so impressed with how far the artists of this school have come along this year. It's been a pleasure to see their growth.
** All their art is compiled in individual portfolios in Artsonia.com. If you need an invitation to see this or a code to share with others to view your student's art, please email me at cdemaagd@concordboyne.org.
Many thanks,
Ms. DeMaagd
