How to support the art room: Don't miss out on a chance to help in the artroom and share your child's artwork with friends and family with the holiday card sale right now! We have just finished several projects, so your child should have a few peices of artwork to pick from already!
What have we covered: We have covered the elements of art: line and shapes. Color is another we touch on throughout the year. We have talked some about the principles of design such as balance (symmetry) and repetition (patterns). We have talked about different art styles and time periods (K-1: Cave Paintings and 2-4: Graffiti/ Street Art). We have started talking about artists like Yayoi Kusama in grades K-2.
What's coming: K-2 has been working on artwork inspired by Yayoi Kusama (K: pumpkins & 1-2: mushrooms). 3-4 has been working on art inspired by graffiti style/ street art. 4th grade has a special school project coming up soon! Everyone will be learning more about the elements of art: shapes and color. We will be moving onto another principle of art: contrast.
Art Contests: I'm always looking at the artwork made throughout the year to be entered in contests. There are some throughout the region and state that are open themed as well as those we may specifically make art for at certain times in the year. Spring is usually when those contests begin to take entries. Art Club entered a local contest: the Arbor Day Photography Contest for Conway. We will know the winners at the celebration that ALL families to attend at Laurel Park on November 4th from 11am-1pm. Come see the winner and join the fun Arbor Day festivities!
