Hello,
This Saturday September 29th is National Museum Day.
In the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, Museum Day Live! Is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket...for free.
To find out more or get tickets go to the following http://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticket/#ixzz27X7TFLVk Museum tickets are available many in PA museums in Hershey, Harrisburg, Lancaster and in Philadelphia. As well as in other surrounding states NY and MD.  So if you are not planning anything Saturday go have fun at a local museum.

In SPS ART ROOM: The art room is getting creative students are in the process of creating 4 snap art designs for Artsonia. We have been working on painting and drawing projects and in the month of October we will be looking at book illustrators since October is National Book Month as well as the looking at the colors of fall.
This year’s theme is Technology in Art many museums have been featuring the art in technology field, if you get a chance this weekend the Smithsonian has an exhibit on “The Art of Video Games” http://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/archive/2012/games/ . Students have worked with several different digital technology types in the past few weeks on ipods/iphone/ipad apps, as well as android art apps.  A favorite has been an online program “sketch and paint” which is flash program based painting. Students have so far just explored different tools and programs by creating abstract based art using shapes, colors and designs. You can see different projects under computer art on the school artsonia.com gallery: http://www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=113869 . Soon we will be creating digital art using these various tools such as self-portraits and landscapes.

Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Our dream is that every young artist will have an online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces in a digital portfolio!
