Artist Statement (what Bryleigh9 said about their artwork)
These are 2 boys and 2 girls doing the tango in a parade going down the Main Street in NYC.In the background there are buildings that are popular. If I changed something I would make the buildings more detailed. Otherwise I love this artwork and I think I did fabulous.
About this School Project (Storytellers-5th grade)
We studied the artist Jacob Lawrence who is known as the storyteller. Jacob created series of paintings that told about important events in the history of U.S. His most famous series is called "The Migration Series" He painted the scenes using one color at a time and added captions that told the story along with the illustrations. He became important in the art world for showing the American scene such as workers in his neighborhood of Harlem, posters for the Olympics, and even inaugurations of presidents. Students worked in groups or as individual artists creating works of art that tell a story. Some stories are personal to the students and some are from American history.
